The most common phrase we would say during Chinese new year is 春来了(Chūn lái le, spring is coming)or 春到了(Chūn dào le, spring is here). After a week of Chinese New year celebration, we can feel that spring is coming! To celebrate that spring is coming, Chinese 6th graders were cutting the Chinese characters 春 and paste them on the wall in the hallway and in front of the Chinese classroom.
A while ago, when the 7th grade was learning about animals, we used tangrams to create animals.
Tangrams were invented in China during the Song Dynasty and then carried over to Europe by trading ships in the early 19th century.
It was fun to talk about Chinese culture and experience it in learning at the same time.
Great job, my 7th grade students!
