Chinese students had researched their China destinations at school and utilized printed material as well as databases and websites. They also learned how to cite a variety of resources. Then based on the research, they created informative visual presentations on these China Destinations. Please enjoy.

Chinese student learned about Chinese new year by decorating the classroom, watching videos, singing the songs and practicing Chinese tradition of saying lucky phrases to Ms. Cheng to get a red envelop.
Enjoy the pictures and slideshow. To celebrate Chinese new year, 7th grade students perform shadow puppet show " Chinese Zodiac".
Click HERE to watch the performance When I cleaned out my shelves the other day I found this paper that had been sitting there for more than half a year. I guess last year's students left it there on the last day of school and I never saw it. Maybe custodians put it on the shelf when they cleaned the room over the summer. I don’t know, but it doesn’t matter… Thank you and I love you too even though you wrote my last name wrong. :) Hope you guys are doing well at CCHS as freshmen this year. I missed you. Three folk art artists visited Chinese class today. We introduced Chinese calligraphy, Rice dough figurine and origami. The kids really enjoyed the introduction of Chinese calligraphy, rice dough figurines and origami. They asked a lot of questions when I showed them the short videos. The next half period they made sheep, folded flowers and wrote their Chinese names.

An 8th grader wrote a letter to a student in China talking about herself, her family, school, activities, fruits, her community in Concord and its market and the price of the clothes, etc. I am so proud of her and her peers who are heading to the high school and learning more Chinese. Best of the luck to all my 8th graders! The 6th graders made a story book before school ends. They introduced their family members and talked about the age, name, nationality and favorite things. To read about their stories in details, please click here.
A while ago, when 7th grade was learning about animals, we made animal puppets and had a Chinese zodiac show. Enjoy.
We are honored to invite three art masters from Taiwan to show students the authentic Chinese arts. Students learned about calligraphy, dough figurine, and Hakka culture. It was a fun and educational activity for them.
Here are some pictures for you to enjoy. The most common phrase we would say during Chinese new year is 春来了(Chūn lái le, spring is coming)or 春到了(Chūn dào le, spring is here). After a week of Chinese New year celebration, we can feel that spring is coming! To celebrate that spring is coming, Chinese 6th graders were cutting the Chinese characters 春 and paste them on the wall in the hallway and in front of the Chinese classroom.
A while ago, when the 7th grade was learning about animals, we used tangrams to create animals.
Tangrams were invented in China during the Song Dynasty and then carried over to Europe by trading ships in the early 19th century. It was fun to talk about Chinese culture and experience it in learning at the same time. Great job, my 7th grade students! Today is the first day of the Chinese Lunar Year. I wanted to say Happy Chinese New year to all of my Chinese class students and their families. 恭喜新年快乐!万事如意! Thank you for a good year and nice job decorating the Chinese class. Once again, our Chinese 8th grader created this wonderful mini Chinese city in the room 209 at Sanborn. I wanted to share the pictures with parents who didn't get the chance to come in the Chinese City Open House before the school break. Please enjoy.
Thank YouA note from a student right before the summer: I am very proud of what she has produced. I am glad that she said she loves Chinese, she thought writing Chinese character was fun and speaking Mandarin was very interesting. She also said that she had learned a lot in a year, she learned about fruits, food, how to describe people, four treasures of Chinese study, sport and activities. She wished me to have a good summer (which I did!) and she said thank you. I wanted to say thank you to you and all my students too. 谢谢你们! |
